(a.k.a. Golden Midget Watermelon) While at first put off by the original name of this cute heirloom watermelon, we wanted to see if it’s as early to ripen as it claims – and it sure is! It starts flowering almost right away, and the fruits also let you know when they are ready to harvest by turning a cheery yellow. Cut them open to reveal a lovely dark pink flesh with few seeds in a personal sized melon. While not our sweetest watermelon, Golden Mini is the one to choose if you are looking for the earliest to ripen and easiest to grow backyard watermelon.
