Tartary Buckwheat

(Fagopyrum tataricum)  A relative to Common Buckwheat, Tartary Buckwheat is another very short season grain, and is more frost tolerant than Common Buckwheat.  Historically grown in the Himalayas, it is appropriate for both culinary and cover crop use.  Considered a “super food” with its high levels of anti-inflammatory compounds and also historically used as a tea (made from steeping flowering tops).

“As soon as I saw my seeds, I had a feeling that they came from plants that had been grown with care – I was further convinced by the 100% germination rate and the fact that … the corn and beans we grew from those seeds thrived and produced a lovely crop! Thank you so much for providing such great seeds; and service, too!”
