Black Hungarian Broomcorn

(Sorghum bicolor) Make your own gorgeous brooms and craft materials, with this stunning easy to grow heirloom! We’d been trying out different varieties of broomcorn for a few years and Black Hungarian broomcorn is the clear winner. Thanks to Owen at Annapolis Seeds for sharing the variety with us! With the guidance of a skilled artisanal broom maker, we were able to rigorously select the highest quality broom plants, and offer the resulting seeds for your garden.

Botanically a variety of sorghum, broomcorn is cultivated much like field corn. But the seeds are borne on long stems, which are the material used to make brooms world wide after the seeds are stripped off. The abundant seeds are useful as homestead poultry feed.
