Oaxacan Green Dent Corn

Oaxacan Green Dent Corn is a lovely field corn that performs remarkably well in our Maritime climate – calling into question its reputed Mexican origins.  Some sources say this variety actually originates in the midwest US, with the variety name purely a marketing strategy.  Either way, it is an excellent and gorgeous corn for northern growers like us.  Our late-May planting is ready to harvest and dry down indoors in early October!  Tall and robust plants – our 2019 stand of corn survived the ravages of Hurricane Dorian, while the 2022 growout withstood Hurricane Fiona.  2 ears per plant.  Dent corn is traditionally used for making tortillas and cornmeal, but could also be used for homestead animal feed.
